First world problems!

This trip has not been all rainbows and roses! For example, as beautiful as this campsite is, it is at a fairly busy intersection in this small town so the noise from the traffic did not let up until 930 or 10 o’clock. It started to rain again last night at about midnight, which woke me up. I had to adjust the tent and then I must’ve fallen asleep at some point. I woke up at about 130 soaking wet! There wasn’t a leak in the tent, but it was either condensation or sweat from “manopause”! To dry out, I had to open up the tent sides to help air it out. The wind had picked up and it was probably in the 30s with the windchill. I lied there for an hour or so before grabbing an extra blanket I had. I think my body heat dried things up enough so I could get back to sleep, but it was a restless night.

I woke up again at 5:30 (mountain time) this morning and forced myself to lie there. There was a beautiful sunrise so I got up about an hour later, but was still tired. Some mornings I have to sit around and wait for the condensation to dry off inside or on the top of the tent. It usually doesn’t take more than an hour, but it’s still a delay.

I went to make my cup of coffee with the press, and as I moved the tube to press the coffee, I realized I hadn’t screwed the filter attachment to the bottom of the tube so all of the coffee ended up on my truck tailgate!

When I eventually got my coffee, correct, I walked around, banging the tent to get all the rain off, so it would drive faster. I went around to take a sip of my coffee and noticed that I had banged all the rain off of my tent and into my coffee cup that I had rested on the tailgate!

So anyway, things aren’t perfect on this trip but overall, I am so grateful! I’ve attached some pictures to show you some of the events this morning and the beautiful surroundings while I drink my morning coffee!

Feeling tired… anyone see a problem?!
Rain from the rooftop tent into my coffee cup.
Lilac bush and field (no cows) just behind my truck.

  1. I’ve made some of those mistakes too with the aero press coffee maker. Hopefully only once for you. Windy and rainy here. You’re not missing good weather here
